Phil La Mela started a residential garbage removal business
in 1958 on Ridge Road in Marlboro, New York. Phil's reputation for honesty and exceptional service became part of the company's legacy. In a few short years, La Mela's Sanitation Service Inc.
had expanded to providing commercial and industrial garbage services. The company quickly outgrew the Ridge Road location.

In 1964, Phil and company built a refuse station, designed specifically for waste and industrial recycling, on Route 9W in Marlboro, New York. When recycling caught on at the residential level, the company was equipped to become one of the area's most active recyclers.
La Mela's Sanitation Service Inc. is now owned by John La Mela Jr. and John F. La Mela—both very involved in the day-to-day activities of the business. They carry on Phil's legacy of caring for their customers beyond expectations. Our family-owned company provides full-service waste removal and recycling. Same-day service is available as well.
